Yak Lotho – Privacy Policy
ལོ་ཐོ། Tibetan Calendar · Last updated: 1 November 2026
Yak Lotho (“the app”) is a Tibetan calendar app developed by Tenzin Thinley (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what information the app uses, where it is stored and how it is shared. In short: your personal entries stay on your device. The only data that leaves your device is what the advertising service (Google AdMob) collects to show ads.
1. Information you enter
You can optionally enter:
- your year of birth and those of family members (to show animal signs),
- names you give to family members,
- personal reminders and notes on calendar days,
- app settings such as reminder time and theme.
This information is stored only on your device. It is not sent to me or to any server, and I cannot see it. Deleting the app deletes this information.
2. Notifications
If you allow notifications, festival and reminder alerts are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent to any server. To schedule them at the right local time, the app reads your device’s time zone; it does not use your location.
3. Calendar access
If you choose “Add to Google calendar” (or your phone’s calendar), the app asks for permission to access your calendars. It uses this only to add the festival events you selected to the calendar you choose. The app does not read, upload or share your existing calendar events. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings.
4. Home-screen widget
The widget shows dates calculated by the app. This information is shared only between the app and its widget on your device.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect and process information such as:
- device identifiers (for example the advertising ID on Android or, if you allow tracking, the IDFA on iOS),
- IP address and approximate location derived from it,
- device and app information, and interactions with ads.
Where required (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google’s consent tools. On iOS, the app does not track you across other companies’ apps and websites unless you allow it through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they will be less personalised.
Google’s use of this information is governed by Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy, and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
6. What I do not do
- I do not require an account or sign-in.
- I do not collect your name, email address or contacts (unless you email me yourself).
- I do not sell your personal information.
- I do not use separate analytics or tracking tools beyond the advertising service described above.
7. Children
The app is a general-audience calendar and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me and I will help remove it.
8. Your choices
- Turn notifications or calendar access on or off in your device settings.
- Reset your advertising ID or limit ad personalisation in your device settings.
- Delete your personal entries by removing them in the app or by deleting the app.
9. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy when the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be noted in the app’s update notes.
